Bangor Municipal Golf Course offers Bangor area youth the PGA Sports Academy and PGA Junior League. Both of these opportunities are very exciting and guarantee to be a hit with Junior Golfers. Our Junior Golf experience includes an instructional component and a team competition component. Children can compete in one or both depending on their personal desires.
PGA Sports Academy is the instructional side of our program. It contains three levels that each contain information pertinent to certain age and ability segments. PGA SA is a comprehensive curriculum that is designed to deliver children specific fundamentals that will help them enjoy the sport of golf for a lifetime. Each level; Little Putters, Player, and Sport have a corresponding page that will help you select which one is right for your junior.
PGA Junior League is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for kids to learn and play golf with their friends in a recreational team setting, complete with numbered jerseys for each participant. Kids learn the game with coaching from PGA Professionals, who serve as team Captains. Last year, a record-setting 36,000 kids participated on 2,900 teams nationwide.
Teams play in a two-person scramble format for competition, which reinforces the team concept and allows Captains to substitute players to ensure everyone on the team can participate. Parents are encouraged to play an active role as volunteers and spectators, making it a fun activity for the whole family. Just because there is a "competitive" side to PGA Junior League does not mean you have to be a seasoned golfer either. Kids of all abilities are welcome!
Please explore our new website dedicated to junior golf and feel free to contact a Bangor Municipal Staff Member should you need help with the selection or registration process.
